Despite finishing at opposite ends of the league Clonmel Celtic U12s pushed St Kevins all the way yesterday and they had to work hard to claim the Under 12 League and Cup double. It didn't look that way after ten minutes when the visitors exposed Celtic's frailties to lead 2-0. Celtic slowly worked their way back into the game and Noa Durcanski was just off target with a shot on 11 minutes. St Kevins nearly extended their lead on 20 minutes but a combination of good goalkeeping from Tommy Ryan and a goal line clearance by Callum Cunningham kept Celtic in touch. On 26 minutes they were back in the game when Ciaran Horgan raced through and finished well to make it 2-1. Ciaran was involved again in a controversial incident that had a huge impact on the outcome of the game. If a professional foul is described s denying a player a clear goal scoring change it's hard to see how the St Kevins's keeper didn't see red when he fouled Ciaran as he was just about to round him to score. The second half was a more even affair and when Ciaran Horgan was fouled in the penalty box with 10 minutes remaining Ahmed Alshmandi fired home to make it 2-2. St Kevins then had a good period and put Celtic under some pressure. Just when it looked that Celtic had withstood St Kevins's late onslaught they scored with virtually the last kick of the game to leave Celtic crestfallen.
