Whereas Clonmel Celtic Youths form in the league has been faultless to date they have struggled in cup competitions and they would have been very disappointed to losing away to Youth Division 2 side Mullinahone yesterday. Difficult conditions and missing a few players meant this was always going to be a tricky assignment for Celtic against a side who were in good form. A surprise result looked unlikely after 30 minutes as two fine goals from Jack Alyward and Cillian Fitzgerald had Celtic 2-0 up. However on 35 minutes Philip Dunne fired a free kick to the net to make it 2-1 and Celtic knew they were in a game at the break. Jack Ryan equalised for Mullinhone early in the second half and the comeback was complete when Cormac Duggan scored for the home side against the run of play. Celtic weren't done yet and Luke Hannign headed an equaliser with the last action of the game. The heavy conditions saw both teams tire in extra time and the home side hit the front when Philly Dunne converted a penalty to make it 4-3. Celtic rallied and came close a few times but Mullinahone held on for a surprise cup win.
