Clonmel Celtic U9s and U11s enjoyed a trip to the Aviva Stadium on Saturday for Ireland's World Cup Qualifying clash with Hungary.
Forty six children along with thirteen coaches and adults set off on two Wallace buses for Dublin at 3.20pm on Saturday. They stopped for lunch at Junction 14 on the way up and by the time they approached the Aviva Stadium they were in fine voice. Unfortunately their enthusiasm was somewhat quelled after 15 minutes of the game as Ireland trailed 2-0. In fairness the boys kept singing and we were rewarded with a second half comeback where goals from Evan Ferguson and Adam Idah saw the game finish 2-2 and they left the stadium in high spirits. After a brief stop at an Applegreen garage on the way home a tired group arrived back in Clonmel around 1.20pm. We hoped everyone enjoyed the day. A special thanks to Joshua Pierse and Jody Norris who were the main organisers on the day and also to the adults who travelled to help out, David and Emma O'Brien, Munib Zaman, John Ryan, Seanie O'Hara, Jason Hahessy, Darrin Phillips, Seana Kelly, Barry Hickey, David Peters and a special thank you to Shannon Greene who produced a lovely video of the day that can be viewed on the club's Facebook page.
