Clonmel Celtic's trip to Thurles on Sunday was a potential banana skin in the Tipperary Cup but they came through a tough encounter with a 3-2 win. Celtic started well and were ahead on 6 minutes when Oisin O'Malley's ball found Julian Kerton and his centre was finished to the net by Cillian O'Brien (pictured/file) to give Celtic an early lead. However Villa were level within a couple of minutes when Tommy McGuire found the net. Villa courtesy of an og went ahead on 15 minutes and held the lead to the break. Celtic raised their game in the second half creating plenty of chances and Cillian O'Brien scored again to bring Celtic level on the hour mark. The decisive goal came on 77 minute with Ewan Rumble finishing a corner to the net. Villa rallied for the final 10 minutes but Celtic held on for a 3-2 win that sees them in the hat for the second round draw.
